DESCRIPTION:Please help us prepare the campus for the new school year by helping with the 6th Annual Alumni and Friends Work Day at Hannibal-LaGrange University on August 12\, 2017 from 7:30 am to 11 am! No advanced skills are necessary. The morning will include hard work\, great fellowship\, and service to HLGU. We’ll meet in the Mabee Sports Complex parking lot\, near the new Carroll Science Center\, at 7:30 am. \nHannibal-LaGrange University will provide a list of projects to prepare campus for the fall semester and a “thank you” lunch will be held at 11 am in the air conditioned HLGU Cafeteria located in the Partee Center on campus. \nFor more information or to enlist as a volunteer\, please contact Alumni Director Lauren Youse ’05 at lauren.youse@hlg.edu or (573) 629-3126 by Wednesday\, August 9. SUMMARY:Len Moss Art Exhibit Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Hannibal-LaGrange University’s Art Department is pleased to announce an exhibit by Len Moss\, a local\, 100-year-old artist and WWII veteran. The exhibit will run January 10\, through February 2\, with a special opening reception on Friday\, January 13\, at 6 pm. \nBorn on December 13\, 1916\, Moss’ colorful life is reflected in his paintings. After graduating with a degree in art in 1938\, he went on to ride freight trains across the US during the depression. He worked on a fishing schooner off the coast of Newfoundland\, and served the US Navy in WWII\, the Korean Conflict\, and the Vietnam War before retiring in 1967. \nMoss paints landscapes\, portraits\, and still life. Sometimes his art is inspired by his naval career\, and sometimes it’s just because the subject itself is inspiring. \n“Living this long\, while it’s a privilege\, it also has its drawbacks\,” he said. “But I’m not complaining\, just stating the facts.”
