DESCRIPTION:Hannibal-LaGrange University will celebrate Constitution Day with Missouri House Representative Dr. Doug Richey\, on Monday\, September 19 at 11 a.m. in the Roland Fine Arts Center. \nThis Constitution Day event is in partnership with the Moorman Foundation as part of the Free Society Speaker Series at HLGU. Hannibal-LaGrange University has long been an advocate of the principles of a free and virtuous society. \n“I am both excited and honored to have Doug Richey speak on campus for our Constitution Day event\,” says Dr. Eric Turner\, Chair of Arts and Humanities Division at HLGU. “Doug is a perfect fit as he embodies both a pastor’s heart and a sharp\, scholarly mind with respect to the political landscape in Missouri.” \nDr. Doug Richey was elected to his first two-year term in the Missouri House of Representatives in 2018. In addition to serving as a State Representative\, he is also a law enforcement chaplain\, adjunct professor\, and the senior pastor at Pisgah Baptist Church. Richey earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Central Missouri and then went on to earn three master’s degrees and a doctorate from the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He spent eight years in the Missouri Army National Guard as a combat engineer and has served as president for several alumni organizations and local boards. \n“I am eagerly anticipating the connections Doug will make for our students\, staff\, and faculty between our Christian faith and faithful stewardship of our constitutional responsibilities\,” Turner says. \nFor more information about Constitution Day at HLGU\, email FreeSociety@hlg.edu. DESCRIPTION:In honor of the 40th year of preparing teachers for certification\, the HLGU Education Division\, in collaboration with past professors and graduates\, is planning a special HLGU Teacher Education Celebration for the weekend of October 7-8\, 2022. This exciting event will allow education graduates to visit Hannibal\, participate in a variety of events\, tour campus\, and reconnect with friends and professors. \nA directory will be compiled to provide current information about your HLGU friends and professors. Whether an alum can attend the reunion or not\, please submit your online form by October 1. The form is located at by clicking this link. Everyone who submits information with an email address will be sent an online directory following the reunion. \nOn Friday\, October 7\, at 7 p.m.\, a free Team Trivia competition will be held in the Roland Fine Arts Center Lobby. Create a team of eight or fewer players and take on other teams for glory and prizes. Snacks and trivia mulligans will be available for purchase as a fundraiser for S-MSTA. He will tag his artwork with three dots (an ellipsis) to represent Isaiah’s vision of the Lord on his throne while seraphim circled Him crying out– \n“Holy\, holy\, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” \nTodd is a multidisciplinary artist creating art that is inspired by and helps express his faith as a Christian. He is the Marketing coordinator and teaches graphic design at HLGU. \nA gallery reception will be held February 3 at 4-7 p.m. in the Hagerman Gallery of the Roland Fine Arts Center at HLGU. DESCRIPTION:Hannibal-LaGrange University will welcome Dr. Tawni Ferrarini as guest speaker on Thursday\, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the L.A. Foster Student Center on campus. \nThis event is part of the Free Society Speaker Series that HLGU hosts in partnership with the Moorman Foundation. \nFerrarini specializes in expanding the reach of sound economic education regionally\, nationally\, and internationally. Since 2017\, Ferrarini has been the Robert W. Plaster Professor of Economic Education at Lindenwood University. She is a member of the economics faculty in the Plaster School of Business and Entrepreneurship\, while also serving as a senior research fellow in the Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise. The mission of the Hammond Institute parallels free society principles promoted by Free Society programming at HLGU. \nFerrarini works with the School of Education\, creating training programs for educators to teach economics and financial literacy. In addition to a plethora of accolades\, Ferrarini has also co-authored several books\, including Common Sense Economics: What Everyone Should Know About Wealth and Prosperity\, which has been used in business classes at Hannibal-LaGrange University. \n“Dr. Ferrarini’s visit to campus is an awesome opportunity for HLGU students to be immersed in free society principles presented by an esteemed professor\,” says Dr. Jonathan Walker\, Assistant Professor of Business Education at HLGU. “Dr. Ferrarini’s professional expertise and abundance of relevant experience in education and economics makes her an ideal Free Society speaker.” \nDuring her visit to HLGU\, Dr. Ferrarini will discuss “Markets vs. Government: Why Differences Matter.” The event is free and open to the public. \nFor more information about the Free Society Speaker Series at HLGU\, email FreeSociety@hlg.edu.
