Weather-Related Cancellations

 

In light of the impending inclement weather issued by the National Weather Service for this weekend, the HLGU Executive Cabinet met this morning to determine our plan of action to ensure the needs and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and campus.

 

 

HLGU has made the following decisions:

  • All classes, scheduled events, and activities for Friday, January 13, as well as Homecoming events on Saturday, January 14, will be cancelled.
  • Administrative offices will be closed on Friday, January 13.
  • HLGU will return to its regular schedule on Tuesday, January 17.

 

Students are encouraged to leave today (Thursday) after their classes and get to their destination before the poor conditions begin tomorrow.

HLGU is already scheduled to be closed for the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday. Allowing students to leave early would also decrease the amount of students on campus in the event of a power outage.

If there is a power outage on campus, those not able to leave will be served.

  • Generators will be used to power heat in selected dorms.
  • The cafeteria will operate on an abbreviated schedule.

 

FRIDAY, JANUARY 13

  • Continental Breakfast: 8:00 am
  • Brunch: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
  • Dinner: 4:30 – 6:00 pm

 

SATURDAY THROUGH MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 15, 16

  • Brunch: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
  • Dinner: 4:30 – 6:00 pm

 

We have purchased water bottles and snacks for students remaining on campus.

The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our biggest concern.
