From the President

Join me on November 30!

11/28/17 Does Christmas music lift your spirit and remind you that Jesus is the reason for the season?  If it does, then I want to personally invite you to Hannibal-LaGrange University’s free annual music department Christmas concert on Thursday, November 30, at 7 pm in the Roland Fine Arts Center.

Performances will be given by the HLGU Concert Choir directed by Lori Scott, and the HLGU Symphonic Band conducted by John Francis.

Pieces to be performed by the concert choir include a wide range of music from “The First Noel” to “Gospel Mass,” and other Christmas carols. The symphonic band will perform the Christmas favorite, “Joy to the World,” and other holiday music. The concert choir and symphonic band will combine to close the concert with a carol medley.

I am grateful for each student that is here that has accepted the challenge to engage in the pursuit of knowledge, and we’re equally grateful for the distinguished faculty who have dedicated themselves and their lives to the pursuit of knowledge and the calling of teaching and instruction. This concert is a wonderful opportunity for the Hannibal community to see and hear the rewards of our students’ hard work.

This evening of beautiful and fun musical entertainment is free and open to the public. For more information on the event, please contact Jane Griffen, music department chair, at 573-629-3165, or via email at jgriffen@hlg.edu.

HLGU is deeply committed to helping students discover, develop, and demonstrate God’s purpose for their lives. Our aim in Christian higher education is to help students find a vocation where they can use their God-given gifts and talents to accomplish a task which provides fulfillment and satisfaction for the glory of God.

Merry Christmas!
