POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Student Activities and International Students is responsible to the Vice President of Student Life. The position is full time and offers benefits as specified in the staff handbook. The Director of Student Activities and International Students is responsible for all student activities along with international Students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the activities associated with current and new student clubs and organizations.
  • Plan, promote, execute and evaluate the University's student activities program in collaboration with the Student Life Office.
  • Attend and/or be responsible for student activities during the day, evening, weekends and holidays.
  • Calendaring student activities.
  • Handling sign-up sheets for banquets and student activities.
  • Promote activities via the use of bulletins boards, HLGU Public Relations department and other various means of on-campus communication.
  • Supervising student assistants.
  • Friend and encourager to the students.
  • Assist the Director of Campus Life, Director of Campus Ministry, and Vice President of Student Life in special projects as needed; i.e. research & investigate programs, supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for budget and fiscal responsibility in areas of supervision.
  • Supervises student workers assigned to each area of responsibility including hiring and evaluating.
  • Assist with surveying students to discover campus activity desires.
  • Keeps up to date SEVIS records for all international students, produces I-20’s, and ensures the
    institution functions under federal regulations for international students.
  • Coordinates airport trips for arrival/departures and helps international students with academic, travel, personal needs as appropriate, such as obtaining a Social Security Number, bank account, etc.
  • Assists students in applying for government work programs such as OPT and CPT.
  • Works with the Student Life Office to maintain Host Home Program
  • Ensures International Student section of the website is kept up to date.
  • Reports to retention office on accurate retention statistics for all international students.
  • Produces recommendations to the Academic Office regarding structure of the ESL Program.
  • Ensures that all inquiries made by international student applicants are answered in a timely manner to ensure a continuation of international student population body.
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be self-motivated and self-driven.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must be able to lift heavy sound equipment and other thing necessary for Student Activities.
  • Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
  • Must agree to, sign off on, and abide by the standards of employment on the back of the application, on the yearly contract, and in the staff handbook.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree in University Student Personnel preferred.
  • Experience is necessary is implementing and supervising activities.
