POSITION SUMMARY:

The Head Shotgun Sports Coach is responsible to the Director of Athletics. The position is Full-Time and does offer benefits, as specified in the handbook. The coach will be responsible for all aspects of establishing and maintaining a quality and competitive shotgun shooting program upholding the mission and ideals of Hannibal-LaGrange University. The coach will be assigned a non-faculty secondary role within the athletic department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsibilities include all aspects of the program related to successful coaching, recruiting (includes meeting enrollment goals), retention, budgeting, scheduling, promotions, fundraising, and mentoring.
  • Must have NRA shooting certification or receive training and certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Ensure all safety standards are full met related to storing and shooting of firearms associated with the program.
  • Ordering and maintaining of equipment.
  • Ensure all team members meet institutional eligibility standards.
  • Must coordinate travel plans for practice and competition.
  • Must maintain proper state license in order to drive HLGU vehicles.
  • Must coordinate one community service project and one fundraising effort per calendar year.
  • Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Must agree to, sign off on, and abide by the standards of employment on the back of the application, on the yearly contract, and in the staff handbook.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree and previous coaching experience is preferred.
