The Hannibal-LaGrange University Freshman Seminar classes joined forces with HLGU’s GateKeepers this year for their annual community service project. This year students hosted a Winter Wonderland where children of the GateKeepers and their families were entertained, made crafts, enjoyed holiday food, and played games for prizes. The Winter Wonderland was held Thursday, November 19, from 4-6 pm on the second floor of the L.A. Foster Student Center.
This is the sixth year of successful Freshman Seminar service projects hosted by Hannibal-LaGrange University. In previous years the class set out to raise donations such as children’s books, toys, winter items, and last year, canned food. This year the students are also set their sights on specific families to show God’s love for them through the class members.
This project consisted of the eight Freshman Seminar classes each adopting two families, and preparing a gift for them. The classes also put their heads together to write and create skits as a way to not only entertain the children and their families, but also to involve them in the festivities.
“Throughout the entire planning and preparation of the project, we have had one goal in mind – the families, and how we could be a blessing to them”, stated Allison Poynter, Freshman Seminar council president.
