Soon after the inception of the Hannibal-LaGrange University agribusiness program, the University began to promote the possibility of giving grain to help support University programs through the Gifts of Grain initiative. HLGU recently received its first generous gift of 2,000 bushels of corn.
The gift was given by a farming couple in northeast Missouri who have been generous supporters for many years. The couple contacted the University about their intentions and in May, they delivered the corn to Ursa Farmers Co-Op gifting it to HLGU. The grain was then sold, netting nearly $16,000 to help toward the current financial needs at Hannibal-LaGrange University.
“This is wonderful news and a true shot in the arm for our future! Praise God for His daily bread in a truly literal sense!” said HLGU Transitional President Dr. Rodney Harrison.
Gifting grain and other tangible items allows an individual who may not have ready cash the ability to support worthwhile non-profits like Hannibal-LaGrange University.
