HLGU Alumni & Friends Lincoln’s Legacy Springfield Day Trip

July 15 @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
$30
Hannibal-LaGrange University invites alumni and friends to join an upcoming summer day trip to Springfield on Wednesday, July 15, for a special journey through the history and legacy of Abraham Lincoln.
The “Day Trip to Springfield, Illinois – The Land of Lincoln” will depart from the Roland Fine Arts Center parking lot at 8:00 a.m. and return to campus by approximately 6:00 p.m. Travelers will enjoy a full day of fellowship, learning, and historical exploration in the hometown of one of America’s most influential presidents.
The trip includes transportation to and from campus, admission to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, a visit to the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, and a stop at the Lincoln Tomb. Lunch will be on your own during the day’s activities.
At the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, guests will experience interactive exhibits, historical artifacts, immersive displays, and presentations highlighting Lincoln’s life, presidency, and leadership during one of the most challenging periods in American history. The museum is nationally recognized for bringing history to life through multimedia storytelling and engaging exhibits.
Participants will also tour the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned. Restored to its 1860 appearance, the home and surrounding neighborhood offer a glimpse into Lincoln’s family life before he became president and departed for Washington, D.C.
The trip will also include a visit to the Lincoln Tomb, the final resting place of Abraham Lincoln, his wife Mary Todd Lincoln, and three of their four sons. The memorial site serves as a place of reflection and remembrance for one of the nation’s most significant historical figures.
The cost for the trip is $30 per person and includes transportation and admission to all sites. Lunch will be on your own. Reservations are required by July 6.
“This trip is a wonderful opportunity for alumni and friends to connect while experiencing an important part of our nation’s history,” said Lauren Youse. “We look forward to spending the day together exploring the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln.”
