Faithful to our goal to produce Christian counselors, the core biblical courses guide students in developing Christian spiritual disciplines and in understanding the biblical principles of counseling.
Building on this foundation, the core counseling courses help students develop the identity of a counselor, possessing knowledge and skills regarding various counseling theories and the ability to utilize them in a variety of settings.

Program Objectives
After completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- Provide counseling in keeping with a biblical understanding of humanity.
- Adopt the role and identity of professional counselor, adhering to ethical and professional principles, standards, and expectations.
- Provide relevant counseling to a multiculturally diverse society in various clinical and ministry settings.
- Identify the underlying factors and treatments of prevalent counseling problems encountered in clinical and ministry settings and employ suitable counseling principles and techniques to correct these issues appropriately.
- Demonstrate professional skills in the areas of diagnosis, assessment, treatment, preventive care, clinical research, referral, self-care, and support group ministry.
Degree Information
Requirements for Licensure
Graduation from the MACO program fulfills the education requirements for licensure in the state of Missouri by the Missouri Committee for Professional Counselors. Individual state licensure requirements may vary. Students are responsible for verifying and completing licensure requirements for the state in which they reside. The coursework aligns with CACREP standards, however the program is not currently accredited by CACREP.
