Shawn Zembles, DNP, APRN, CEN, CCRN, RN-BC, ACNS-BC

Assistant Professor of Nursing

Dr. Zembles joined HLGU in Spring 2025 after teaching for 20 years in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs at the University of Missouri and 10 years in the graduate nursing programs at Colorado Christian University. Nationally certified in emergency, critical care, and nursing professional development, he has served in both civilian and military healthcare systems sharing expertise in emergency preparedness and chronic disease epidemiology.

As a quality improvement specialist and project manager, he has led the Afghan Nurse Training Initiative, consulted for the Military Medic to BSN Transition Program, and continues to advance emergency department efficiency and outcomes. Committed to mentoring future nurses and connecting academic learning with real-world clinical practice, his professional interests also include how world religions and cultural traditions influence health care perceptions and delivery in the United States.
