Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU) has launched Bring Back the Legacy: Phase 2, a fundraising campaign to support critical dormitory renovations needed to meet growing enrollment demands and address aging campus housing. The university must raise $200,000 by early April 2026 to complete renovations to Pulliam Hall and the Becky Thatcher and Mary Wiehe apartment buildings.
This campaign builds on the success of Phase 1 of Bring Back the Legacy, which included the renovation of Crouch Hall and the beginning stages of renovation in Pulliam Hall. Phase 2 will complete and expand upon that work, ensuring additional housing is ready to meet current and future student needs.
HLGU is anticipating increased enrollment in Fall 2026 and expects additional housing needs for summer camps. These renovations are essential to provide safe, comfortable, and welcoming living spaces for both current and future students.
Thanks to a generous commitment from Campers on Missions, a volunteer building group, HLGU will receive approximately $90,000 in skilled labor at no cost. The volunteer team is scheduled to be on campus in late April 2026 to complete the work. To make this possible, the university must raise the remaining $110,000 needed for materials and supplies.
Phase 2 Renovations Include:
- Pulliam Hall – Complete renovation of the first floor, including new flooring and ceiling, upgraded electrical systems, replacement entry doors, and refinishing of the building’s historic antique woodwork
- Becky Thatcher and Mary Wiehe Apartments – Exterior painting to preserve and refresh these apartment-style residences
“Bring Back the Legacy: Phase 2 is more than a building project—it is an investment in the students God has entrusted to us,” said HLGU President Dr. Robert Matz. “By renovating these residence halls, we are preserving the rich heritage of Hannibal LaGrange while ensuring that future generations have a safe, welcoming, and spiritually supportive place to grow. We are deeply grateful for the friends, alumni, and partners who make this mission possible, and we invite our entire HLGU family to join us in shaping the future of our campus.”
Pulliam Hall has long been an iconic part of the Hannibal-LaGrange student experience, and Phase 2 continues the university’s commitment to preserving its legacy while preparing for the future. Naming opportunities are available for donors who wish to make a lasting impact.
HLGU invites alumni, friends, and supporters to be part of this transformative effort—one that ensures students have a safe, comfortable, and spiritually nurturing place to call home.
