HLGU’s Brice Baumgardner Receives MASFAP’s Highest Honor, the Missouri Award

Hannibal-LaGrange University is proud to announce that Brice Baumgardner, Vice President of Enrollment Management, has been honored with the Missouri Award—the highest recognition presented by the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP). This distinguished award celebrates an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and impact throughout their financial aid career.

Baumgardner has been a devoted member of the HLGU community for more than two decades, serving 23 years as Director of Financial Aid before stepping into his current role. His career has been marked by a steadfast commitment to serving students and families, expanding access to higher education, and championing excellence across the financial aid profession.

His passion and dedication have long been recognized. In 2010, he received MASFAP’s Bob Berger Newcomer Award, followed by the President’s Award in 2011—early indicators of the meaningful influence he would continue to have across Missouri.

Throughout his years of involvement with MASFAP, Baumgardner has served as President-Elect, President, Past-President, and Vice President, in addition to chairing and contributing to numerous committees. His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the association’s mission and operations.

A defining example of Baumgardner’s leadership came during his presidency, when MASFAP encountered significant challenges related to its budget and finance operations. Rather than stepping back, he stepped forward—uniting members, fostering transparency, and guiding the association through complex decisions. Thanks to his efforts, MASFAP emerged not only financially sound but more focused, unified, and prepared for the future.

At HLGU, Baumgardner is known not only for his expertise, but for his character. Colleagues describe him as encouraging, collaborative, and deeply invested in the success of others. His leadership has inspired many within the financial aid profession, shaping a new generation of dedicated professionals.

The Missouri Award honors a Missouri professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service throughout their financial aid career—a definition Baumgardner exemplifies in every way.

Hannibal-LaGrange University congratulates Brice Baumgardner on this prestigious achievement and expresses gratitude for his many years of faithful service to our students, campus, and the greater financial aid community.
