Susan Wathen, MHRM
Adjunct Professor

Mrs. Wathen’s background was in Accounting / Business until an opportunity came up to learn the HR function. “Human Resources offers the opportunity to impact both the employee side of a business and the business side of a business,” she says. Mrs. Wathen has over 20 years of Human Resources experience, 14 of which were at the executive level. “I have been able to teach the HR Management course for HLGU’s degree completion program as well as the traditional in-seat Human Resources class.” Mrs. Wathen also teaches an HR/Development course for the Master’s of Leadership Program at HLGU.
Mrs. Wathen says, “My job does take a lot of my time, but outside of that my family is involved in several ministries at our church. I love to spend time with our daughters and their families, including our six grandchildren. My husband, Bob, and I have been married 35 years and enjoy ministering together, traveling together, bicycling, kayaking, and hiking together. I love having the opportunity to tie my faith in Christ in with the Human Resource function and showing students how HR will be knit in as part of their jobs, even if they are not planning to work in the HR field. I was saved as an HLG student during the Staley Lectures on campus many years ago, and I love being able to pour back into today’s students here. Come into HLGU with your eyes wide open to learning both your field or vocation, but more importantly learning how to better love the Lord and live for Him.”
