Professor Edwin Smith is an accomplished nurse educator, clinical leader, and instructional designer with more than fifteen years of combined experience in nursing practice, higher education, and healthcare training.

He is dedicated to fostering academic excellence, professional growth, and evidence-based clinical competence among nursing students in both traditional and asynchronous online environments.

Professor Smith is pursuing a terminal degree in nursing. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Herzing University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South University, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with Magna Cum Laude honors from Stevens-Henager College.

His academic journey also includes an Associate of Science in Medical Assisting from Keiser University and an Associate of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix. This diverse educational foundation reflects his lifelong commitment to interdisciplinary learning and teaching innovation.

Throughout his academic career, Professor Smith has held faculty and leadership appointments at several respected institutions and multiple allied health programs nationwide. His extensive teaching portfolio spans nursing and health science disciplines such as critical care, pharmacology, pathophysiology, medical terminology, health assessment, and electronic health records. Known for his dynamic teaching style and student-centered approach, he integrates real-world clinical experiences with interactive instructional design to create engaging, outcome-driven learning experiences.

In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Smith brings extensive clinical expertise to his teaching. He currently serves as Nursing Operations Leader at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. His previous leadership roles include Nurse Manager in Critical Care.

He also worked as a Clinical Training Specialist for Sarnova (Tri-Anim), where he designed and implemented national education and simulation programs for non-invasive ventilation and critical care products used in hospital and home care settings.

Professor Smith has been published in AMT Events, the official journal of the American Medical Technologists, on topics such as cognition and pain management in laboring patients.
