POSITION SUMMARY
This is a Graduate Assistantship position and requires enrollment in a Hannibal-LaGrange University graduate degree program. The role includes a tuition benefit and stipend, with work hours typically ranging from 20–25 hours per week.
The Student Activities Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Dean of Students and plays a key role in enhancing campus life. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing student events and activities that foster engagement, community, and school spirit.
Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion and be actively involved in an evangelical, preferably Southern Baptist, church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate the development and operation of student clubs and organizations, both existing and new.
- Plan, promote, execute, and evaluate the University’s student activities program in collaboration with the Student Life Office.
- Attend and oversee student activities during the day, evening, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Maintain the cohesion and accuracy of the Student Life Office calendar.
- Promote campus activities and events through social media, bulletin boards, and other communication channels.
- Supervise student assistants and the campus activity board.
- Coordinate aspects of New Student Orientation in partnership with the Student Life Office team.
- Assist the Dean of Students, Director of Campus Life, and the Director of Campus Ministries in special projects as needed.
- Conduct surveys and gather feedback to identify student interests and improve campus programming.
- Oversee the intramural sports program, including scheduling, promotion, and supervision of events to encourage student engagement and healthy competition.
DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS
Collaborates with all University departments to ensure successful execution of student activities and events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must be self-motivated and self-driven.
- Must have excellent time management skills.
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment necessary for student activities.
- Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Student life experience preferred.
- Must be accepted into a Hannibal-LaGrange University graduate program.
