HLGU Theatre Season
City Mouse, Country Mouse
By Brian D. Taylor
September 19, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
The Loft, L.A. Foster Student Center, HLGU Campus
When country mouse Sam unexpectedly invites his urban cousin Alex to visit, Alex hesitates—but puts family first and ventures out of her comfort zone. He arrives to a world without Wi-Fi or indoor plumbing—clueless and completely out of his element. Overwhelmed, he scrambles back to city life—but guilt soon propels him to return the favor and host Sam in the hustle and bustle of urban living. Now it’s Sam’s turn to feel out of place: his discomfort reaches hilarious peaks, especially in a cringe-worthy sushi restaurant scene. In the end, both must admit there's no definitive "better" when two vastly different worlds collide.
Shadowlands
By William Nicholson
November 13-15, 2025
Parker Theatre, HLGU Campus
Step into the moving true story of C. S. Lewis, the beloved author of The Chronicles of Narnia, whose quiet Oxford life is turned upside down when he meets the bold and brilliant American poet Joy Davidman. What begins as an unexpected friendship blossoms into a love that challenges his deepest beliefs about life, faith, and the cost of truly opening one’s heart. Both tender and profound, Shadowlands is a story of love, loss, and the courage it takes to embrace both.
Neil Simon’s Rumors
April 16-18, 2026
Parker Theatre, HLGU Campus
This hilarious comedy unfolds as several well to do couples arrive at a beautifully appointed suburban home to celebrate their friends’ tenth wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, they are met with a series of alarming and absurd discoveries: the domestic staff is nowhere to be found, the hostess has mysteriously vanished, and the host, who happens to be the deputy mayor of New York City, has suffered a minor gunshot wound to his earlobe.
As panic sets in, the guests scramble to protect their reputations by keeping the evening’s incidents hidden from both the police and the press, leading to a cascade of misunderstandings, quick-thinking cover-ups, and comedic chaos.
