Give through Direct Withdrawal

You can authorize a monthly direct withdrawal from your bank account that will benefit HLGU! All you need to do is fill out this Direct Withdrawal Form.

Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA
If you are a certain age, you may have to take at least a minimum distribution from your IRA. Your RMD increases your taxable income. A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) therefore reduces your overall tax liability. You may instruct your IRA account manager to distribute any amount of your choosing to a tax-exempt charity such as HLG. You just need to give them our name. When that is done, it is considered to be a tax-exempt contribution.

Life Insurance
Gifts of paid life insurance policies may allow income deductions for roughly the net cash surrender value of the policy. Generating a new policy with the college as the owner and beneficiary provides a tax deduction for the premiums in the year(s) they are paid. You can also simply add HLGU as a beneficiary on your existing policy.

Stocks
Appreciated stocks may be assigned directly to the University or transferred through your
broker, allowing you to escape paying capital gains tax while receiving a tax deduction. The amount of your contribution is the fair market value on the day of the transfer. Our broker is Andy Straube at Edward Jones in Hannibal, MO:

Real Estate and other non-cash gifts
