Position Title: Graduate Assistant – Residence Hall Director

POSITION SUMMARY
The Residence Hall Director (RD) is responsible to the Director of Campus Life. The position is part-time. The RD is responsible for the overall operation of the housing units they have been assigned and the conduct of its residents, as well as oversight of Resident Assistants.
Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion and be actively involved in an evangelical, preferably Southern Baptist, church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Live in the dormitory for which they are responsible (may only have two vehicles including cars, trucks, golf carts, 4-wheelers, etc.)
- Maintain personal living space reflective of housing policies. (See Handbook)
- Maintain office hours at least three times a week. Office hours must be posted.
- Allow 3 to 5 hours of meetings each week with various Residence Life Staff (RAs and Director of Campus Life)
- Organize and oversee the Resident Assistant (RA) rotation schedule for on-call weeks.
- Schedule one weekend off a month with the Director of Campus Life.
- Maintain on-going contact with all Resident Assistants and residents. Work to resolve roommate issues.
- Oversee check-in and check-out procedures for residents. (Time off or vacation may not be taken during check-in and check-out times). Maintain records concerning room conditions, emergency contact forms, and housing contracts. Assess dorm damages and fines throughout the year.
- Conduct orientation meeting at the beginning of each semester to address housing policies and regulations.
- Turn in maintenance and housekeeping requests as needed as well as report these requests in a weekly report in staff meeting.
- Read, support, and enforce all HLG policies as outlined in handbooks.
- Enforce the disciplinary action of those residents who violate college policy while in the housing units.
- Maintain records of disciplinary action taken and file a copy with the Director of Campus Life. Keep track of warning sheets for each dorm. Two warning system and then a fine is issued.
- Assist in supervising RAs assigned to the housing units. Create an RA schedule that includes the various duties of the RAs including nightly duties, on-call duties, visitation duties, posted hours and admissions tours, etc. (RA’s must be present at check-in and check-out dates)
- Monitor the work and performance of RAs through an evaluation process.
- Other duties as needed or assigned by the Director of Campus Life.
- One weekend per month is allowed for overnight stays away from campus.
- Summer vacation to be taken between June 1st and August 1st as approved by the Director of Campus Life (No RD will be approved for vacation during the week(s) of Super Summer).
SUMMER DUTIES
- Check in camps and handle key issues.
- Assess and report damages to housing units weekly to the Camp Coordinator.
- Assist with upkeep (could include cleaning, painting, or minor repairs, etc.) of the housing units and/or other campus facilities as assigned by the Director of Campus Life.
- Assist with housing issues as needed by the Director of Campus Life.

- Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to relate to college students.
- Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be accepted into an HLGU graduate program.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- 2-3 year commitment required, depending on academic program chosen.
- Free tuition for 6 credit hours of graduate course work per semester (fall, spring, summer).
- $500 monthly stipend + free on-campus housing.
