It is with great excitement that Hannibal-LaGrange University welcomes all Trojans back to our beautiful campus and provides a time for alumni to reunite with their fellow classmates during our 2017 Homecoming.
HLGU classes of 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, and 2007 will be our honored guests at Homecoming 2017! We hope HLGU Alumni will begin making plans to attend October 6-8. This will be an event-filled weekend you won’t want to miss.
Homecoming is the time of year for Trojans to return to their roots, and we are looking forward to honoring the class of 1967. Their 50-year class reunion will leave each of us with a better sense of the tradition and pride that goes hand in hand with being alumni of this great University.
A recent addition to the homecoming festivities is the 50-Year Club. This club was established to honor alumni who attended Hannibal-LaGrange 50 or more years ago. During the 50-Year Club Induction Ceremony on Friday at 11:30 am, a group photo will be taken, and members of the class of 1967 will receive special medallions to wear all weekend. This will be a great opportunity to come together and reminisce. Following the luncheon, a campus tour will be given. Attendees can tour campus by shuttle beginning at 1 pm.
HLGU’s Annual Alumni Golf Classic, a tradition for many HLGU alumni and friends, will be held on Friday, October 6. This competitive yet fun scramble will take place at Norwoods Golf Course in Hannibal with registration beginning at 9 am and the shotgun start at 10 am.
The Annual Alumni Art Show & President’s Reception will be held on Friday as well with the reception starting at 6 pm. The artwork of two HLGU Alums, Neil Sneed ’12 and Casi Gray ’08, will be featured.
During the Friday night homecoming banquet, alumni and current students will gather in the Mabee Sports Complex for an Italian banquet. Afterwards, guests will move to the Parker Theatre, in the Roland Fine Arts Center, for the coronation of the 2017 Homecoming King and Queen, recognition of HLGU athletes, the 50 year reunion class, and this year’s alumni award winners. Entertainment will be presented by Jaron Myers, an award-winning power house of unique and witty humor combined with musical talent. His edgy but clean comedy will have you rolling!
On Saturday morning, guests can participate in the Trojan Trek 5k run/walk. Beginning at 9 am, the course takes runners through campus, along a couple of city streets, and on a beautiful nature trail. Registration is only $15 for alumni, faculty, staff, and students, and $25 for other registrants. Pre-register by September 26 to receive a t-shirt. Registration price increases to $30 on September 26.
Additional events on Saturday include alumni games of baseball, softball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s soccer. A bounce house will also be set up at the alumni tent from noon to 4 pm. Take in the women’s volleyball game when they play against Freed-Hardeman at noon, and watch the men’s and women’s Trojan soccer teams take on Central Baptist College at 1:30 and 3:30 pm. Admission is free for all three games.
Join us on Sunday for a special chapel service in Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center at 10:30 am. This is a wonderful opportunity to end the great weekend with inspiration from the Word. A Homecoming Farewell Luncheon will immediately follow the chapel service in the Partee Center.
