Candace Graves, Ph.D.
Counseling Faculty

I am Dr. Candace Graves. I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I have one college aged son. In my spare time, I love to travel the world and try new things. I also enjoy trying new healthy recipes.
My academic passion is to train and equip the next generation of counselors to make an impact in the lives of others as it relates to mental health. I bring a wealth of practical knowledge and research- based strategies to my teaching. With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I have gotten the opportunity to work in community mental health, private practice, as well as provide mental health education for agencies and churches across the region.
One thing that really stood out to me about HLGU is their commitment to keeping Christ as the foundation of their academic framework. The integration approach is what I live by. This aligns with my personal aspiration of building a bridge that integrates the Christian worldview even in secular spaces. I strive to foster an environment that helps students develop clinically, engage in critical thinking, as well as develop their professional identities as they work to be world changers in the mental health field.
