Please describe your position and what you enjoy most about it.
I teach 9th and 12th grade English. I love having the opportunity to get to know each and every one of my students and expose them to literature and ideas they may have never seen before. It is so rewarding to see how learning something new impacts students in different ways.
What aspects of your HLGU experience helped you prepare for your career?
The education department definitely prepared me for my career. The professors were so intentional with me and really showed me the value of relationship building and the impact it can have on the classroom environment.
What have you enjoyed most about your career?
I have most enjoyed getting to know my students and being a part of their lives as they grow and decide what they want to do down the road.
How did HLGU shape you as a person?
HLGU shaped me by giving the skills and knowledge I needed to practically do my job, but the spiritual guidance I received during my time there has helped me much more. I am thankful for the people who took the time to pray with and for me and for the wisdom that was spoken to me in love. It was truly a blessing to receive an education from professors who were spreading the love of Christ.
