That is why Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU) and the Hannibal Regional Healthcare System (HRHS) have partnered together to provide the tuition and fees for you to train to be a nurse. Start your application today!

Who is eligible?

Students enrolled in HLGU’s Practical Nursing (PN) Certificate Program or Associates of Nursing Program (ASN). Students enrolled in the pre-nursing program become eligible after completing their general education and pre-nursing requirements.
Students who agree to work for HRHS after successfully completing their course of study at HLGU.
Transfer students (both from other colleges and other nursing programs) are welcome to apply.
Must be a domestic student. Not available for international students.

What programs are available?

The PN program is a 11-month program taken on campus at HLGU and in clinical settings in the local area. Students should plan to spend 40 hours a week at minimum toward their studies in this program. After successfully completing the program, students will sit for the NCLEX-PN exam.
The ASN program is a 2-year RN program that can only be taken after completing most pre-nursing general education requirements. After successfully completing the program, students will sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.
HLGU also offers an online degree completion program for registered nurses who desire to complete a BSN. This program is not eligible for the HRHS tuition assistance program. It costs $365/credit hour.

How does it work?

Apply and be accepted to HLGU.
- HLGU CSON Program (PN or ASN Program)
- Be accepted to HLGU nursing program of your choice (a secondary Nursing application will be provided upon acceptance into the University).
Apply to and be accepted to work at HRHS Once you have been accepted into the and Nursing program, follow this link to apply.
Fill out a form agreeing to work for HRHS after you graduate from HLGU.

Once accepted, HLGU will provide a scholarship for a portion of your nursing tuition and fees. HRHS will then cover the remainder of your tuition and fees.
Satisfactory academic progress must be maintained for all nursing students which includes a grade of at least a B- in all nursing courses. More information on these standards can be found in the nursing student handbooks.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the program will result in needing to repay tuition assistance provided by HRHS.
