Field Experiences and Practicums

Required for all preservice teacher candidates
Connect university coursework with real classroom practice (birth–grade 12)

Early & Ongoing Classroom Exposure

Observe and engage with practicing teachers
First-year students participate through Field Experience I (100-level)
Additional field experience courses required each year
Many professional education courses include fieldwork components with specific purposes

Background Checks and Requirements

Required for field experiences, student teaching, and again for Missouri certification
Candidates responsible for all associated fees

Felony Disclosure Policy

Applicants must disclose felony convictions
Supporting documentation must be submitted
Failure to disclose results in removal from the HLGU Teacher Education Program
