Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU) offers a program which allows pre-service teachers who have substantial prior learning experiences and/or valid work experiences to seek credit for up to 30 semester hours via Portfolio evaluation. While each individual’s background is unique and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, it is important that certain guidelines be followed to maintain a rigorous level of academic integrity within the program.

Programs having pre-service teacher education students who have been employed in public or accredited nonpublic schools for at least 2 years as a paraprofessional, teacher assistant, long-term substitute teacher, or teacher of record shall accept such experiences in lieu of the conventional coursework.
