Criminal Justice
As soon as I arrived at HLGU my freshman year, I knew I was somewhere special. One thing in particular that stands out about the school is the faculty. They are always willing to help and they have a passion for teaching. These teachers want us to succeed and have a genuine care for the students here.
Stephen Myers '14 Criminal Justice
The HLGU Criminal Justice program provides students with a rewarding academic experience in and out of the classroom. The program is appropriate for students wishing to pursue career paths in all justice related fields including law enforcement, probation and parole, community-based prevention and control programs, court-based programs, and corrections.
Students majoring in criminal justice take a series of core courses and electives which cover all phases of the three components of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, courts, and corrections.
The curriculum for a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice prepares students to meet employment standards for various criminal justice and social service agencies. In addition, graduates of the program are academically qualified for admission to graduate programs and professional academies.
During their senior year, criminal justice majors have the opportunity to enhance their total academic experience through planned and supervised programs of observation, study, and work internships with selected criminal justice and social services agencies. These ongoing partnerships with local agencies advance our goal of “Knowledge for Service,” preparing the Christian criminal justice professional for personal and career effectiveness.
Bruce Capp
Mr. Capp believes that HLGU's motto, "Knowledge for Service" applies to a higher degree for those who choose to join the Criminal Justice system as their mission field.
